Heroic Grandmother Defends Home and Granddaughter from Intruder

At Carry Hard, we stand by those who uphold their right to protect their loved ones. Anissa Tinnin, a 49-year-old grandmother from New Mexico, embodies this spirit as she bravely defended her home and granddaughter from an intruder.

Tinnin and her 4-year-old granddaughter were enjoying a peaceful evening watching Taylor Swift’s “Eras” tour film in their Albuquerque home when a sudden threat emerged. An intruder, fleeing from the police after crashing a stolen vehicle, burst into their dining room.

“You do what you have to do to protect yourself and your family,” Tinnin said. The intruder, threatening their lives, demanded compliance. But Tinnin was prepared to defend her granddaughter at all costs. “I would have given everything I had, including my life, to do what I had to do to protect my granddaughter,” she said.

Tinnin called 911, trying to calm her granddaughter while on the phone with the operators. However, the intruder returned to the house, prompting Tinnin to grab her gun. She warned the intruder to “get back” before shooting him in the abdomen. “I had to hold him at gunpoint,” Tinnin recounted. “This man is bleeding on my kitchen floor.”

Tinnin says there was no question the intruder was going to hurt or kill her and her granddaughter. Police arrived on the scene and took the suspect into custody.

“If Anissa had not done what she did, we’d be telling a different story right now,” the 4-year-old’s mother, Megan Austin, stated.

Tinnin has not been charged. The suspect survived and will be charged with burglary and auto theft.

At Carry Hard, we salute Anissa Tinnin for her bravery and her unwavering commitment to protecting her family. Her story is a powerful reminder of why the right to bear arms and defend one’s home is fundamental.
